As electric and hybrid vehicles become more commonplace, battery developers and auto manufacturers alike are investing in advanced lead acid battery designs that can deliver higher productivity and performance than conventional battery chemistries. As newer designs continue to enter the market, it’s extremely important that, in addition to key market players, vehicle owners also recognize the advantages of premium chemistries. - The pure lead plates in ODYSSEY® batteries also reduce the risk of sulfation and corrosion. Sulfation is the accumulation of lead sulfate crystals on the plates when the battery is insufficiently charged too often. Galvanic corrosion occurs when dissimilar metals are in contact while immersed in an electrolyte. Both sulfation and corrosion can cause premature battery failure.
